Firvale use to be called Sloan a while ago until there were two Sloan's then our Sloan was changed to Firvale and we don't know what happened to the other Sloan. Maybe it was changed to Firvale too.
Lots of people stop here as there are two distinct herds of Mountain goat that come down to lick the mineral salts found along the road side. People stop to take pictures of the homes and mountains around Firvale. Its a small community of about twenty families. There are no stores in Firvale. Look for migratory deer in farmers fields, cougar, wolf and bear. Often there are fox families sitting along the road. Firvale to Tweedsmuir Park has a few spots along the road to pull off and just enjoy the view. There are few vehicles and it is a peaceful place with open skies and great mountains. River boat and drift boat access at Canoe Crossing.
